1. What is your name and how old are you?
I’m Anushi , seventeen years old
.
2. from your experience as a competitor, what did you think of Urban Quest 2005.How would you compare the previous events to this year’s event?

It was great, really fun, a very strong competition. This year was much more competitive and the event was also better organized.

4. Which category did you compete in?
Last year I completed in Vocals RNB and Vocals Open. And this year in the Vocal RNB

5. Was the competition tough?
Yes there were a lot of really talented and challenging people.

5. How much time did you spend preparing for your performance?
Well, I practiced a couple of times a week at school and at home.

6. Tell me a little about what you had to do to get a place in the competition?
Basically I just worked hard, I kept practicing and I put together a good presentation at the prescreening.

7. What was the highlight of the event for you?
J- Wess and coming third, and I was very impressed with other competitors especially the first, she was only twelve years old, I thought that was amazing.

8. Did you win an award this year and how did you feel after receiving your award?
Excited and surprised. It’s funny actually, I’ve come third place both years in a row. Hopefully I will jump up the ladder next year!

9. Would you encourage other young performers to enter and why?
Yes, definitely, any performer, just give it a go! Its fun, get out there be on the stage.

10. What are your future plans as a performer?
I’m in year twelve at the moment, but I will try hard for Australian Idol. Also I would love to complete my first CD which include songs I’ve written since I was 12 and spend time in Slynca.

11. Do you have any tips for other young people thinking of entering Urban Quest in the future?
Go for it, it’s a great event and great for your future as a performer. Show everyone what you can do!

 1. What is your name and how old are you?
 Jason Doon , 22

 2. From your experience as a competitor, what did you think of Urban Quest 2005?
 Well I entered the competition five years ago. I think that this year the prizes were a lot  better and there were more people, more fun.

 3. Which Category did you compete in?
 Rap and Open Vocals.

 4. Was the competition tough?
 Yes, the Open Vocals was very tough, but I think the Rap was easy as there weren’t much  people entered to this Category.

 5. How much time did you spend preparing for your performance?
 Well, the song was written a year ago. And you sign in before you get to perform at the  event.

 6. Tell me a little about what you had to do to get a place in the competition?
 They give you a chance to bring your music to play in front of the three judges at the  prescreening which is like an audition. It wasn’t even one minute so we have to choose our  best minutes.

 7. What was the highlight of the event for you?
 Meeting all the other people, getting a chance to learn and to see different styles of Rap.

 8. Did you win an award this year and how did you feel after receiving your award?
 
Yes I did win. It was a shock at the time.

 9. Would you encourage other young performers to enter and why?
 Yes of course, the younger the better because it would be a chance for to you to be at the  front of the stage, to learn and to have fun.

 10. I heard that J- Wess appeared at Urban Quest as a Judge for the finals, did you get a  chance to meet him?
 Yes, he was one of the judges, he gave me a cheesy look but I got to shake hands with  him. I was very impressed with his advice.

 11. What are your future plans as a performer?
 Well, I will start getting back with my “Small Hill” band and I will be performing at Moorabbin  Town Hall end of April.

 12. Do you have any tips for other young people thinking of entering Urban Quest in the  future?
 Yes, don’t be scared, don’t be shy. Just do it your way, don’t copy others, just be yourself.  Give it a go and everything will be fine.
